Altin continues his exploration of the Southwest and will be flying out to Tucson, AZ for his anticipated premier at the infamous Century Room. Altin will be joined by some of Arizona’s finest musicians premiering some of Altin’s latest works.

If you're in town, Altin will have a three day run also serving as a guest artist for the Century Room big band as well as hosting the Sunday night jam session!

We’re excited to announce a very special collaboration with UNLV — join Altin March 7th for a wonderful brass centered masterclass.

Altin will be joining composer, saxophonist, and bandleader; Hina Oikawa for her debut at Culture Lab LIC in Queens for the premiere of “Short Songs.”

“Hina Oikawa “Short Songs” is a project combining Japanese tanka poetry with jazz. Led by saxophonist and composer Hina Oikawa, the performance features a large jazz ensemble playing original music inspired by the beauty and emotions of traditional poetry. This unique blend of words and music offers a fresh and moving experience for the audience.”

This special concert will feature a side by side presentation from both the faculty of the SFCM as well as their students. Altin along with the rest of the faculty will be continuing the tradition of challenging students to rise above their comfort and swing the night away with the heaviest cats in SF!

While there’s no shortage of young artist competitions, the UNT Jazz Trombone Day competition is one that’s risen as one of the highlights for all jazz trombonists alike. Founded by the Professor of Jazz Trombone at the University of North Texas - Nick Finzer; it’s a day that celebrates the instrument and the students that study the craft.
